Compolab was born from the meeting of complementary professional paths, combining expertise in governance, finance and business management with deep experience in industrial leadership, operations and manufacturing technologies. Co-Founder | President & CFO

With a strong economic and financial background and extensive experience in corporate finance, governance and extraordinary transactions, Maurizio Buratti has supported companies and institutions through transformation, growth and restructuring processes. Co-founder of Compolab since 2010, he contributes to defining the governance model, the economic-financial sustainability and the strategic development of the company, combining engineering excellence with a structured managerial vision oriented to long-term value.

Maurizio Buratti

President and CFO – Co-Founder

Graduated with honors in Economics and Business at the University of Pisa in 1988, after an initial academic experience as a research fellow in Business Economics, he began his professional career collaborating with KPMG in the auditing area.

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant since 1993, he has developed solid and broad experience in administrative, fiscal and tax matters, dealing with valuations of companies and business units, also as a Court-appointed Technical Consultant (CTU), as well as data room and due diligence activities supporting acquisition operations. He has planned and successfully carried out extraordinary transactions of sale, transformation, spin-off and liquidation, also operating in insolvency contexts, including appointments from the Bankruptcy Court.

He currently holds and has held positions as member of Boards of Statutory Auditors and Statutory Auditor for companies and public entities, sitting on several Boards of Directors of corporations.

Between 2002 and 2010 he carried out temporary management assignments in complex industrial contexts. In 2010, following a spin-off from the Livorno Science and Technology Park, he co-founded Compolab, where he has held the role of President and CFO since its inception.

He has delivered managerial training for executive roles in corporate and banking environments and, since 2011, has been a lecturer in Business Economics at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pisa.

A mechanical engineer with a career developed in major international industrial groups, Marco Padella has held top positions in the management of plants, operations and technological development, leading complex production systems and large-scale organizations. Co-founder and CEO of Compolab since 2010, he leads the industrial and technological growth of the company, bringing a concrete approach oriented to execution, system reliability and scalability of solutions.

Marco Padella

Chief Executive Officer – Co-Founder

Graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pisa in 1971, he started his industrial career at Piaggio. He subsequently joined SPICA (Alfa Romeo components), where he took on responsibility for the shock absorbers division and held positions of increasing importance, contributing to the company's growth to over 2,000 employees in 1980 and to a significant increase in business.

Following the transfer of Alfa Romeo and SPICA to the FIAT Auto group in 1987, he assumed responsibility for technological activities of steering, suspension and transmission systems at worldwide level. In 1989 he became Director of the Livorno plant (former SPICA) and subsequently also of the Florence plant; in 1994 he was appointed Director of the Mirafiori Meccanica plant within FIAT Auto.

Since 1996 he held the role of Production Director for Piaggio's European sites (Pontedera and Madrid), within the development programs defined by Giovanni Agnelli. Between late 1999 and April 2002 he was Operations Manager for TRW Italia, with responsibility for the Livorno and Gardone Val Trompia plants.

From 2002 to 2007 he was General Manager of Videocolor, first in the Thomson group and later in the Videocon group. In 2008 he took on the role of CEO of Solergy, a startup dedicated to the development of concentrated solar energy technologies.

Since 2010 he has been co-founder and CEO of Compolab, where he draws on deep experience in industry, operations, technology and management of complex organizations, guiding the company in its growth and positioning in high technology-intensive markets.

Our History

Compolab was founded in 2010 from a spin-off operation, with the goal of transferring advanced research and engineering expertise into the industrial context, transforming it into concrete and applicable solutions.

Over the years, the company has developed a multidisciplinary and integrated operating model, progressively expanding its expertise in mechanical, electrical and electronic design, advanced modeling and simulation, software development and the creation of demonstrators, prototypes and pre-series.

In parallel, Compolab has invested in the in-house capability to build special machines, test systems, industrial automation and robotization solutions, consolidating an approach focused not only on design, but also on industrial realization and validation.

Today we collaborate with international players in the automotive, railway, energy, defense and aerospace sectors, also supporting innovative SMEs. We operate within innovation ecosystems that include research centers, technology parks and regional, national and European programs, contributing as a partner or subcontractor to the development of high-tech solutions.

We have over 1,800 sqm of technical and production area, polymer and metal additive manufacturing technologies, testing and validation instrumentation and a significant high-performance computing infrastructure, supporting design, simulation and advanced development activities.
